Looking back at my photographs for this year, I found this view from my windscreen about 2 miles from home.  Some traffic jams can be a really relaxing experience!

I have been tardy in updating because I have been ill for the last three weeks but the "kettle robins" took their first flying lessons weeks ago and left the nest two or three days later.  I did not manage to get a photograph of them.  In fact, as we have a large garden (about 2 acres) I think we have up to three nesting pairs so there are a lot of young robins about. I finally managed to get a picture of the robins while the parents were out hunting for food.  There are 3 babies and they are in between the fluffy down and feathered stage.  They were extremely difficult to photograph down inside the kettle as the handle of the kettle keeps blocking out the flash so I am sorry about the quality of the photograph!

We have been very busy preparing the vegetable garden for planting lately.  Everything is very late this year as we could not get onto the ground until late March - it was just so wet so the potatoes went in about a fortnight late.  We have reduced the numbers sown this year, just a row each of first earlies, second earlies and main crop.  Ironically, almost as soon as they went in, we had dry sun...
